Deaf Link Expands Sales Capabilities for Office Furniture Liquidations

First furniture store in the U.S. to provide communication access and

empower deaf community with help of Deaf Link App

SAN ANTONIO — Office Furniture Liquidations has partnered with Deaf Link to become the first furniture store in the country to provide communication access in its store to people who are deaf and rely on American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate. Deaf Link’s Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) service is provided through an iPad app, and allows staff to connect with a Deaf Link Certified ASL interpreter to assist with communication between the store and its hearing impaired customers.

The fun and tech-savvy furniture store offers high quality, used commercial grade office and hotel furniture at a fraction of the new, retail price through business asset liquidations and real estate lockouts. Office Furniture Liquidations, which creates humorous, impromptu Facebook Live videos featuring new arrivals to the 45,000 sq. ft. showroom  on its Facebook page, often sells pieces to customers through social media videos and digital communication. The store has a Facebook following of nearly 25,000 people, and the partnership with Deaf Link came about due to its adoring fans.

“I was with some clients when I saw one of Office Furniture Liquidations Facebook Live videos, and I couldn’t help but laugh,” Deaf Link CEO Kay Chiodo said. “The couple, who are both deaf, asked what was happening and wanted to learn more. I interpreted for them right on the spot, and realized there was an opportunity to extend Deaf Link’s American Sign Language services to Office Furniture Liquidations.

The videos are not only fun and upbeat, but Office Furniture Liquidations offers products at a great value. I knew the team at Office Furniture Liquidations would be a great partner. After meeting with Office Furniture Liquidations, I knew that their team would take great care of our clients.”

Over 38 million Americans have sensory disabilities (Deaf, HOH, Blind, Deaf-Blind, Late Deafened) that affect how they communicate and receive information. Office Furniture Liquidations takes pride in making the customer experience as convenient and efficient as possible. Communication, regardless of ability, is no exception.

“We are able to provide the highest quality products to our customers at unimaginable prices through real business liquidations,” Office Furniture Liquidations CEO Erik Darmstetter said. “We continue to be a destination in San Antonio for businesses and entrepreneurs from Texas and Mexico seeking quality office and hotel furniture at a discount for more than five years. We want everyone to have the same experience, regardless of their location or ability.”

Office Furniture Liquidations is located at 6838 Bandera Rd, San Antonio, TX 78238. Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Office Furniture Liquidations will load purchased items in vehicles, and partners with a moving company to provide discounted delivery rates if needed.
